Leslie Fisher from the Benton County Soil and Water District shares how we can all benefit from the work and assistance they provide. The Soil and Water Districts work with the NRCS (Natural Resource Conservation Service) and complement their programs and work on special projects such as the Big Pine Watershed, which you will hear more about in this episode. The Soil and Water Districts assist not only farmers, but urban home owners as well with problems that exist on their land or yard and look for a solution using conservational practices. Examples include tillage changes, adding cover crops, or even rain barrels! Funds are often available to help compensate for the conservation minded change being made. Talk about “green” incentive!
